Pound Cake Brownies

3/4 c. butter or margarine softened
1 c. sugar
3 eggs
2 (1 oz.) sq. unsweetened chocolate
melted and cooled
1 tsp. vanilla
1-1/4 c. all purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder

Cream butter and sugar; beat in eggs. Blend in chocolate and vanilla. Stir flour with baking powder and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Add to creamed mixture; mix well. Stir in nuts. Spread in greased 9 x 9 x 2 inch baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes. Cool. If desired, sift powdered sugar over top. Cut into bars. Makes 24.
